The Artist KITAS is the working status for anyone performing in Indonesia for a fee: DJs, musicians, vocalists, dancers, performers. The sponsor is the venue or promoter whose events the status is issued against.
This is not a formality: clubs and festivals in Bali get inspected regularly, and paid gigs on a tourist visa end in fines, deportation and entry bans. Legal status removes the risk for both the artist and the organiser.

Artist status is not one visa but a family of indices. Which one fits decides the duration and, more importantly, whether you may be paid a fee in Indonesia.

Government fees on the short-stay visas: C7, C7A, C7B and C7C — IDR 1,500,000; C8A and C8B — IDR 2,000,000; C14 — IDR 2,000,000. The visa itself is valid for 90 days from issue: if you do not enter within that window, you file again.
About the retired index. Half the market still sells "E23R" as a separate artist visa. That index has not existed since June 2025: the new classification folded it into the general work index E23. The product is still there, the code changed — but an agency quoting you E23R is working from two-year-old paperwork.
Sport is a separate branch
Coaches and athletes do not use the artist indices but their own. The decree covers more than twenty sports — football, boxing, surfing, golf, wushu and synchronised swimming among them.

- Permanent coaching work — a work KITAS E23 through the club or federation
- Promoters and referees — same logic: a single event, or an employment contract
The phrase "non-commercial sport" in the name of the C8 visa is misleading. It describes the nature of the event, not your fee: being paid on a C8 is permitted.

DKP-TKA (Dana Kompensasi Penggunaan Tenaga Kerja Asing) is the state compensation levy for engaging a foreign worker: USD 100 per month of status, paid upfront. Older sources call it DPKK. It is not part of our price, and we show it separately so you can see what goes to us and what goes to the state.
Our fee is the same for a six-month and a twelve-month status — only the state levy changes. That makes the yearly option almost always better per month.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an artist KITAS cost?
IDR 25,000,000 covers our work: the organiser-side permits, filing and support. The DKP-TKA state levy is paid separately at USD 100 per month of status — USD 600 for six months, USD 1,200 for a year. Our fee is identical for both terms, so the yearly status works out better per month.
Can I be paid a fee on an artist visa?
Yes. The ministerial decree explicitly grants holders of C7, C7A, C7B and C7C the right to receive remuneration or benefits for their activity. What is prohibited is different: selling goods and services, and entering an employment relationship with a company or individual in Indonesia. Playing a set under a contract with a promoter and being paid for it is lawful; taking a salaried residency at a club is not, and that requires a work KITAS.
An agency is offering me an E23R visa. Is that right?
That index no longer exists. It was part of the 2023 classification and was retired on 2 June 2025, when artist work statuses were folded into the general E23. The product itself still exists, but an agency quoting E23R in 2026 is working from outdated paperwork.
How does C7 differ from a work KITAS?
In duration and in the nature of the relationship. C7 and its siblings give 30 days for the specific event in your application, with no work permit involved. A work KITAS E23 means an employment contract with the venue, a work permit, the DKP-TKA levy and a status of six months or more. One-off dates are covered by the short-stay visa; a club residency needs the KITAS.
I am shooting a music video or social media content. Does an artist visa cover that?
No, filming has its own indices: C14 for features, music videos and documentaries, C5A for social media content. There is one crucial difference: on both of them, earning income in Indonesia is expressly prohibited. If an Indonesian party is paying for the shoot, the structure is different — tell us the situation and we will map it.
I perform for free — do I need the status?
A one-off non-commercial appearance is its own case and depends on the event format. But any fee, even cash-in-hand, without work status is a violation. Describe your situation and we’ll tell you straight what’s needed.
What happens if I perform on a tourist visa?
Fines, deportation with an entry ban — and trouble for the venue. Immigration raids on Bali clubs are routine; saving on the status doesn’t pay.
I have contracts with several venues — what then?
The status is tied to a sponsor. For a series of venues the usual scheme runs through one sponsoring promoter — we’ll structure it correctly for your schedule.
How fast can it be arranged?
It depends on the organiser’s paperwork. For scheduled dates, start early — for last-minute events we’ll suggest realistic options.
