Work KITAS E23 extension
Updated: 28 August 2026 · Verified by the Malina Visa team
A work KITAS is extended for another year without leaving the country, and the extension itself is quick — 7–9 working days. The long timelines you see online belong to first-time filing and to changing employer, where the RPTKA has to be approved again.
Our all-in price is IDR 15,000,000 for a year. The employer separately pays the DKP-TKA state levy.
Price and timing
| What we do | Status validity | Our all-in price | DKP-TKA levy | Processing time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Extend a valid KITAS | 1 year | IDR 15,000,000 | USD 1,200 | 7–9 working days |
| First-time filing, offshore | 1 year | IDR 17,000,000 | USD 1,200 | 30–45 working days |
| First-time filing, onshore via bridging | 1 year | IDR 21,000,000 | USD 1,200 | 30–45 working days |
DKP-TKA (Dana Kompensasi Penggunaan Tenaga Kerja Asing) is the state levy for employing a foreigner: USD 100 per month, USD 1,200 a year, paid upfront. Older sources call it DPKK. The employer pays it; it is not in our price. Not to be confused with RPTKA, which is the utilisation plan rather than a payment.
What gets extended alongside your status
A work KITAS has a dual nature: it is tied both to you and to the sponsoring company. While the employer stays the same, the extension takes the short route — 7–9 working days. It only becomes slow when the pairing of worker and company itself changes.
When to start
A month before the current status expires. The formal condition is that at least 30 days must remain on the KITAS.
Biometrics are mandatory
Since June 2025 every extension requires you in person: a photograph, fingerprints and a short interview.
Everything else — documents, filing, fees, tracking — is ours. Offices in Bali: Denpasar, Ngurah Rai (Jimbaran) and Singaraja.
Gili, Lombok, Nusa Penida: no need to fly to Bali
Extensions are filed online, so where you are staying does not affect the application. We handle clients on Gili, Lombok and Nusa Penida, and in Jakarta and Surabaya, exactly as on Bali.
The only part tied to a location is biometrics: you attend the office covering your area. Nusa Penida has no office of its own, so people travel to Denpasar.
How the extension works
We look at the KITAS type, expiry date and the basis it rests on, and say straight away if conditions have changed.
We prepare the package from you and the sponsor, file the application and pay the government fees.
We tell you the office, date and time. About half an hour.
The extended status arrives as a notification. We set a reminder for the next deadline.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a work KITAS extension take?
7–9 working days. That is markedly faster than first-time filing, which runs 30–45 working days because the RPTKA has to be approved again at the Ministry of Manpower. Extending with the same employer skips that stage.
How much does a work KITAS extension cost?
IDR 15,000,000 all-in for a year. Separately the employer pays the DKP-TKA state levy — USD 100 per month, so USD 1,200 for the year, upfront.
What is DKP-TKA and who pays it?
DKP-TKA (Dana Kompensasi Penggunaan Tenaga Kerja Asing) is the state compensation levy for employing a foreign worker; older sources call it DPKK. The employer pays it and it is not part of our price. Do not confuse it with RPTKA — that is the foreign worker utilisation plan approved by the Ministry of Manpower, not a payment.
Do I need to leave the country to extend?
No, a valid work KITAS is extended inside Indonesia. Leaving is only needed when the status has lapsed and a new one is being arranged.
What happens if I change employer?
A KITAS cannot be transferred to another company. Changing employer means arranging the permits and status again from scratch: a new RPTKA, a new DKP-TKA and a new KITAS. Start early — the process takes 30–45 working days.
When should I file?
A month before the status expires. The extension itself takes 7–9 working days, but the margin covers a request for an extra document from immigration.
Can I take side work at other companies?
No. A work KITAS only allows employment at the sponsoring company. Freelancing and side jobs for other companies are not permitted on this status.
