VOA is the fastest way into Indonesia for a short trip: holidays, business meetings, shopping or transit. Get it right at the arrival airport or in advance online (eVOA) — no embassies, no waiting.
It is single entry: leaving the country cancels the visa. If your plans stretch beyond 60 days, look at the C1 tourist visa for up to 180.

Who can get a visa on arrival
A visa on arrival is issued to nationals of 97 countries. The list is closed: if your country is not on it, an eVOA cannot be arranged online or at the airport — you need a visa obtained in advance.

Who will not be issued an eVOA
Refusals are not only about nationality. There are three categories, and each outcome is known in advance.
- Nationals of countries outside the register. A visa on arrival is unavailable — an ordinary visa is arranged in advance instead, most often a C1 tourist visa through a sponsor.
- Holders of travel documents other than a passport. The e-visa portal names them outright: Laissez Passer, Titre de voyage, Travel Document, Document of Identity, Certificate of Identity, Alien Passport, Alien Travel Document, Emergency Travel Document, Emergency Passport and Temporary Passport. With a returning certificate or a temporary document the application cannot be filed.
- Stateless persons. The register is built around "nationals of country X", so stateless applicants fall outside it by definition.
Not sure whether a restriction applies to you — message us before you book. Checking a passport takes a couple of minutes; being turned back at the border costs a flight.

How many nationalities can get a visa on arrival in Indonesia?
As of August 2026, nationals of 97 countries, per the official register of the Directorate General of Immigration. The list is closed: if a country is not on it, an eVOA cannot be issued online or at the airport and a visa must be arranged in advance.
What if my country is not on the list?
You arrange a visa in advance. Most often that is a C1 tourist visa through a sponsor, which gives 60 days with two extensions up to 180.
Can I apply for an eVOA on a document other than a passport?
No. The e-visa portal explicitly lists the documents that cannot be used: Laissez Passer, Titre de voyage, Travel Document, Document of Identity, Certificate of Identity, Alien Passport, Alien Travel Document, Emergency Travel Document, Emergency Passport and Temporary Passport.
How is an eVOA different from an airport VOA?
It is the same visa. The eVOA is arranged online in advance — on arrival you go straight to passport control, skipping the payment counter. eVOA extensions can also be done online.
How do I extend a VOA?
One extension of 30 days is allowed. Start 1–2 weeks before the first period ends. We take the process over — in most cases with no in-person immigration visits.
What if 60 days is not enough?
Leave and return on a new visa — or arrange a C1 tourist visa (up to 180 days) or a multiple-entry D1/D2 in advance. A VOA cannot be converted to a long-stay visa inside the country.
Which airports accept it?
Any international airport and a number of seaports that accept foreign nationals — the visa is not tied to a city.
What does overstay cost?
1,000,000 IDR per day of overstay; up to 60 days it is paid at departure, beyond that serious immigration measures are possible.
