Family KITAS
The Family KITAS is a residence permit for families tied to Indonesia: foreign spouses of Indonesian citizens, and spouses and children of foreigners who already hold a KITAS or KITAP. The whole family lives in the country legally, under one clear status.
The process has two stages: first an entry visa (VITAS) is issued, then after arrival it is converted into a KITAS with photos and fingerprints at the immigration office. We manage both stages.

Who can sponsor a Family KITAS?
An Indonesian spouse — for a foreign husband/wife and their children, or a foreigner holding a valid KITAS or KITAP — for their own spouse and children. The sponsor type determines the permit’s duration.
Can I work on a Family KITAS?
No — it does not permit employment. Working requires a Work KITAS through an employer. You can, however, live, open a bank account, get a driving licence and send children to school.
Do I have to leave the country to renew?
No — the annual renewal happens inside Indonesia. Start the process roughly 30 days before the current term expires.
What happens in case of divorce or the sponsor’s death?
The status is tied to the sponsor, so a sponsor change or a switch to another visa type is needed. It is solvable but takes time — reach out early and we’ll plan the transition.
When can I get a KITAP (permanent residence)?
Spouses of Indonesian citizens — typically after 2 years of registered marriage; holders of other KITAS types — usually after 5 years. We’ll map your scenario in a consultation.
