How the C1 works
The C1 is a single-entry tourist visa. It gives 60 days from the date of entry and extends twice inside the country by 60 days each — up to 180 consecutive days. It is the standard choice for a long winter stay: half a year on the island without a single border run.

Timing and extensions: 60 → 120 → 180
Extensions are filed at the immigration office covering your address. The official fee for each 60-day extension is IDR 2,000,000, processed within 3 working days of payment.
The first period starts on the date of entry. An extension may be filed no earlier than 14 days before it ends.
Another 60 days. The new period starts the day after the old one — no days are lost.
The final 60 days. No further extension is possible: 180 days is the legal ceiling.
Either you leave, or you change status to a KITAS — and that has to start early, not in the last week.
C1 or e-VOA: when the extra cost pays off
The price difference is real, so the number to compare is the cost of the whole trip, not of the visa.

Documents and cost
The list is short, but the passport requirements are strict — that is where most applications fail.

What you cannot do on a C1
The C1 is a visit visa. It carries no right to work or to earn inside the country, and that is not a technicality: according to immigration, working on a tourist visa is one of the leading causes of deportation from Bali.

- !Long-form study and working as a journalist
