Indonesia visa-free entry 2026: who qualifies
Citizens of 19 countries and territories, plus Singapore permanent residents, enter Indonesia without a visa. On 9 July 2026 the list gained Turkey, Brazil, Peru, Kazakhstan, Macau and Belarus under ministerial regulation Permenimipas No. 10 of 2026. Visa-free entry gives you exactly 30 days, which cannot be extended and cannot be converted into a KITAS. Russia is not on the list — Russians still need an e-VOA or a C1 visa.

What changed on 9 July 2026
Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto signed regulation Permenimipas No. 10/2026 on 7 July; it was promulgated on 9 July. Six new subjects joined the list:
- ✓Turkey — the largest of the six by visitor numbers
- ✓Kazakhstan and Belarus — the first Russian-speaking countries on the list
- ✓Brazil and Peru — Latin America
- ✓Macau — special administrative region of China
The basis is reciprocity: all six already admit Indonesians without a visa. The widely discussed visa waiver for Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and India did not make it into this regulation.
Thirty days, full stop: three hard limits
Visa-free entry looks like the easy option, yet it is the most limited entry status Indonesia offers. Three restrictions apply to everyone using it:
- !Exactly 30 days. Not working days, not roughly a month — 30 calendar days from the date of entry
- !No extension. Not once, not for any fee. The e-VOA can be extended; visa-free entry cannot
- !No change of status. Visa-free entry cannot become a KITAS — not a work, investor or family one
What to take when 30 days is not enough
The key point: you choose before departure. Once you have entered visa-free, you cannot change your mind inside the country — only leave and re-enter on the right visa.

Planning to work, run a business or bring your family over? Neither visa-free entry nor a tourist visa covers that. Look at KITAS and KITAP: the permit is issued for your actual purpose, and you must enter on it.
Russia and other countries off the list
If your country is not on the list above, nothing has changed: you need a visa, and arranging it in advance is the sensible route. For Russians and most other Bali visitors that means the electronic visa on arrival — applied for online, delivered by email, with only your passport needed at the border.
One planned change is worth knowing about. On 12 August 2026 immigration announced an intended fee increase: IDR 750,000 for an e-VOA arranged online before departure and IDR 1,000,000 for a visa obtained at the airport. Both currently cost IDR 500,000. No effective date had been set at the time of writing, but the direction is clear — arranging it in advance will cost noticeably less than queueing on arrival.
What the border needs besides a visa
These requirements are identical for visa-free entry and for every visa type:

- ✓A return or onward ticket — checked by the airline at boarding and by immigration on arrival
- ✓Proof of accommodation: a hotel booking or your address in Indonesia

With a biometric passport and an approved electronic visa you can use the autogate — clearance takes roughly 15–25 seconds, and children aged 6 and over may use it too.
Frequently asked questions
Do Kazakhstan citizens need a visa for Bali in 2026?
No. Kazakhstan joined the visa-free list on 9 July 2026, so a tourist trip needs no visa. But visa-free entry gives you exactly 30 days and they cannot be extended. Planning to stay longer? Arrange an e-VOA or a C1 visa before you fly — you cannot switch to one after entering visa-free.
Can the 30 visa-free days be extended?
No. A visa-free stay permit cannot be extended at all — the rule is explicit. From day 31 you are overstaying, at IDR 1,000,000 per day per person. Only visa-based permits extend: the e-VOA once for 30 days, the C1 in 60-day steps up to six months.
Do Russian citizens need a visa for Indonesia?
Yes. Russia is not on the visa-free list. The standard holiday route is the electronic visa on arrival (e-VOA): 30 days, extendable once by another 30. For a longer stay people take the C1 visa — 60 days, extendable to 180.
Can I convert visa-free entry into a KITAS?
No. Switching from visa-free entry to a limited stay permit (KITAS) is not allowed. If your goal is a work, investor or family KITAS, you must enter on the matching visa arranged before departure.
What do I need to show at the border on visa-free entry?
A passport valid for at least 6 months, a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and a completed All Indonesia declaration. Bali's tourist levy of IDR 150,000 is paid separately through the Love Bali portal.
